Is Laser Hair Removal Safe for Indian Skin?

This is the question we hear most often — and the honest answer is: yes, laser hair removal is safe for Indian skin, with one important condition.

Indian skin (Fitzpatrick types III to V) contains more melanin. If a laser is operated on parameters designed for lighter European skin, the melanin in the skin — not just the hair follicle — absorbs energy, raising the risk of burns and post-inflammatory pigmentation.

Safe treatment for brown skin means the right wavelength (longer wavelengths such as 1064 nm Nd:YAG are generally preferred for darker types), conservative energy settings and effective skin cooling — all adjusted after a skin-type assessment.

At Auraa, every laser session in Hyderabad begins with exactly that assessment. For session plans, areas and package details, message us on WhatsApp.
